We at Uplift Others created Why Life Matters
for two reasons: We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior
of the world, and we want to help those going through hard
times. Ours is a world of economic uncertainty, war, famine,
poverty, crime, injustice, and heartache. To all of the
suffering and malady the world has to offer, we boldly reply that
Christ is "the way, the truth, and the life." Through him we can
find peace and strength to overcome life's greatest challenges. We
invite all mankind to do as we are striving to do each day — turn your life over to Him,
and let Him heal you and comfort you. We testify that He lives, He loves you,
and He knows you personally. If you feel like giving up...if
you can't go on any longer...if you must surrender...surrender
to Him. As the old adage goes,
"He never said it would be easy, He only said it would be worth it." We invite
you to join in our cause as we strive to help uplift our fellowman.

Creator of Why Life Matters
Samuel Harrison was born in Michigan and raised in Wisconsin.
He is the seventh child of nine. At the age of 11, he experienced
real adversity for the first time when his mother's chronic
depression worsened and she became suicidal. Nine years and
eighteen suicide attempts later, she was healed of her depression
through faith in Christ and determination to follow Him. Sam's
father remained faithful to her throughout the endeavor.
From them Sam learned to never quit, and that miracles are real; some just take time.
At the age of nineteen, Sam served a two year, voluntary church mission to
the people of Paraguay. Upon returning home, moved to Springville, UT.
There he met his wife, Ashley. Their son, Benjamin, was born January 15, 2008.
When he was just four weeks old, Sam suffered a spinal cord injury as a result
of a terrible accident. He became paralyzed from the chest down, with limited
use of his arms and shoulders, and no hand or wrist movement at all. Sadly,
Sam's injury was labeled "complete," meaning his body would very likely never
recover on its own. Sam was told his wife would and should leave him, that it would
be almost impossible to finish his education, and that he would likely never reenter
the workforce. His life was basically over.
Now almost four years later, Sam is a senior at Brigham Young University
(He was a freshman when he was injured). He has earned over 120 credits
of straight A's. He will graduate August of 2012. His wife has remained
devoted, faithful, and very much in love with her husband. He is a devoted
father and hopes to add a new member to his family soon. He frequently visits
and mentors new quadriplegics. Most importantly, he lives a happy and grateful
life. He and his wife feel strongly that their marriage and life have been strengthened,
healed, and blessed by the power of the atonement of Jesus Christ. In his own
words he says simply, "Although God has yet to fully heal my body, he has absolutely
healed my soul." He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He loves ALL of God's children, and hopes you will share this message with anyone and everyone.

Justin Howard was born and raised in California, and is the oldest of four children.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served a full time 2
year mission in Brazil. With regards to that very special time in his life he says,
"Although I had a testimony of Christ and His Gospel previous to entering the mission field,
it was there where I gained an even greater knowledge of the love that Heavenly Father and
Jesus Christ has every single person. As I served with the Brazilian people, I learned that
there is a plan for each one of us, and all we need to do is rely on the Lord and His infinite wisdom."
Justin met his sweetheart shortly after returning home in 2006 and was married one year later.
They just had their first child, a beautiful baby boy, and Justin is in the process of earning
his Bachelors in Aviation Science. His plan is to pursue a career in commercial aviation
as a professional pilot.
